Modeling & Simulation

At the Laser Institute Rezekne (LIR), we leverage modern computing technology to engage in the multiphysical, cross-scale modelling and simulation of laser radiation-matter interactions. This sophisticated approach plays a crucial role in deepening our understanding of laser processes, facilitating the targeted development of tailored laser systems, new material processing options, and pioneering new applications of laser radiation and laser-based measurement technology.

Our work in modelling and simulation extends beyond laser-specific simulations. A significant component of our research involves the calculation of laser radiation propagation, employing a variety of methods. This aspect is instrumental in designing and optimising beam paths and supports various optical measurement technologies. These simulations are essential for the advancement of laser applications, allowing us to predict and enhance the performance of laser systems in practical settings.

Furthermore, fundamental modelling at LIR encompasses the structure of molecules and the dynamics involved in their formation. This research area is pivotal in understanding the molecular interactions during laser processing, providing insights that guide the development of more efficient and effective laser technologies.

At LIR, the modelling and simulation domain is not just a tool for theoretical exploration but a foundational aspect of our research strategy. It bridges the gap between theoretical concepts and practical applications, enabling us to continually push the boundaries of what is achievable with laser technology. Through these endeavours, we aim to remain at the cutting edge of laser research, contributing significantly to the field and ensuring that our innovations have practical, real-world applications.
